Visiting Artist - Soraya French, dramatic landscapes

Soraya French Workshop: 28/02/2025

Twenty-five members enjoyed a thoroughly engaging workshop focused on creating landscape pictures. Soraya led us through a mixed-media demonstration of expressive mark-making using acrylic paints, inks, chalks, pastels, and applied tissue paper (other mediums could equally be used). Both paintbrushes and palette knives were employed, while texture and depth were enhanced with fibre paste (modelling paste), gels, and gesso. Soraya demonstrated how various mediums and layering techniques create interesting effects. We were then encouraged to experiment with our own work. Under her personal, attentive, and friendly guidance, some amazing pieces were produced.
