Susan Boddy's watercolour workshop

Susan Boddy’s watercolour class was full today. Everyone looking forward to learning prospective and placing people in a painting.

Susan demonstrated how to draw people and place them in a picture. She interacted with the class asking volunteers to place different size cut out people onto a painting to show the science of distance by maintaining the peoples' heads at the same level in the painting.

Susan's style of painting really celebrates the movement of watercolour and let's the random colours naturally blend in together, concentrating more detail on the larger closer figures.

We finished the lesson off by sketching out and painting our own pictures of Imola in Italy, one of Colchester's twin cities.
