Thursday 8th August 2024 Painting outside, 10am - The Munnings Museum, Dedham.

A quintessential plein air get together in the grounds of The Munnings Art Museum in Dedham, Essex.

We had an amazing turn out, with up to 70 artists from both the Dedham Art Society and the Norfolk and Norwich Art Circle attending.

We were all gathered on the lawn of the museum to paint a recreation of Alfred Munnings’ painting Tagg’s Island (The Models’ Day Out), which can be seen here: https://artuk.org/discover/artworks/taggs-island-3644

The museum staff put on a great show, arranging a wonderful scene for us artists to paint and enjoy.

The props and models reminisced of Sir Alfred Munnings and friends enjoying his beautiful grounds and the weather was perfect, our models did a fantastic job in sunny and hot conditions!

The whole day was very enjoyable, with a wonderful atmosphere and some outstanding works of art being produced. A celebration of Alfred Munnings, his home and his art.
