Lorraine George
Lorraine spent 28 years teaching Performing Arts to the young people of Colchester and had a lot of fun doing so! She spent most of that time wishing she had the time to "make pictures."
After the death of her youngest son in 2013 the decision was made to retire from teaching and try her hand at art. It has proved a fabulous therapy!
Using her experience as a costume maker, textile art was a natural progression. "Free motion embroidery is like drawing with a machine needle. Blending threads is like mixing paints." Painting was the next obvious step.
Lorraine enjoys working in many mediums and is probably happiest when she can me many things together! Water colour, Acrylics and lately Oils - all offer endless possibilities.
